you mean preparatory schools? I'm your gal. My parents would not send me to a public school if their lives depended on it.

Prepratory schools are expensive. They have no government funding and have to work off their own money. First thing's first. A prep school always, ALWAYS has a uniform. It's pretty standard usually, for summer short sleeved, lined button up shirt with a tie. For guys its's usually pants, white socks and black shoes with same color laces. For girls it's usually around knee length skirt with white socks, and black shoes with same color laces if there are any. Your shirt must be tucked in and fully buttoned, your tie must be done right and your hair must be tied up with school issued hair bands. No funny hair colors, no nail polish or make up, and no tats. For winter, same shirt but long sleeved, same tie as well, add a blazer or sweater if you want, skirts past knee length and black tights are to be worn. Guys wear the same pants and socks during winter. The same rules apply. 

PE uniforms are usually pretty standard. A shirt with the color of your house on it and the school's name on the front, shorts for summer and pants for winter. Your shoes must be white, and must be sports shoes. You have to have a certain pair of socks for PE, without them you do not join in the lesson. If you're swimming, you can wear your own swimsuit or use the school issued one. You must have a swim cap and a towel at all times, do not wear slippers in the pool, do not run near the pool. That's all.

As for the houses, they're pretty simple. 4 houses each with their own color. THe usual combo is blue, green, yellow and red. Sometimes the houses have names, sometimes they don't. My favorite prep school I went to called them like this:

Ireland (green)

London (yellow)

and I only care about those two cause my friend was in London and I was in Ireland.

You were also given a name tag that you must wear which I forgot. It has your house and student ID on it.

Your notebooks are from the school not from the government and the teachers teach whatever the school says not the government, unless the demand came from the owner of the country.

You can decorate your books and the lockers are much smaller than standard, PS (public school) lockers, you can only keep a handful of books there. No bags allowed in class, and you have to bring your own laptop. If you are absent for 3 days in a row, you must give a doctor's note or detention will be given. If you join a club, go immideately to that club after school. If you miss too many days, you will be removed from the club. To quit, you must talk personally with the club supervisor, to make a club you must talk to the vice principal.

If you need help with anything, prefects are stationed in the halls and next to trash bins.

Prefects are next to bins to make sure you throw your waste in the correct bin. If a prefect catches you throwing your trash on the floor, it will result in a warning. 3 warnings and you get a detention. You must always speak English unless it is break time or a language lesson other than english. All students must take French or German. 

Younger students, primary and juniors, are not allowed to buy items from the vending machines issued to older students, sophomores and seniors.

Any complaints are to be sent in an email to the principal. If you cause trouble in detention, you get afterschool detention, cause trouble there, you get weekend detention. Imagine spending the weekend cooped up in a room in your school writing an apology essay. 

All clubs must have a supervising teacher. You cannot take your phone to school, if caught with a phone, it will be confiscated until the end of the day unless you are at an afterschool club. There's usually two buildings, the primary building and the secondary building. Juniors usually take classes in both which means a whole lotta walking, younger students take classes in the primary building and older ones in the secondary building. If you steal snacks while the vending machine is being re-stocked, you get an afterschool detention.

There is always one major school event. Sports day. Whole school participation, competing in houses, Ireland was on a winning streak cause we're obvi the best. You'd participate in different tournaments and whoever won the most tournaments wins the whole thing. We got second place because of those darned reds. We lost by a hair.

Sometimes tho, the school would issue a Fun Day. Whole school participation, all the games you can think of, floaties of boats in the swimming pool (one time our floatie started sinking our of nowhere and we were drifting to the deep end), games to play and even access to the kids' play area if you're bored. Churros, corndogs and all the food you can eat served piping hot in the gym. Highlight of every school year.

The trips were usually to a local arcade/play area. One time we went to a rock climbing wall place with a starbucks right next to it. But all that was in my old school. When you become a junior and start high school, you start getting trips to other countries. They're educational but fun cuz no actual lessons other than cool place with cool history.
